Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1208

[1208] For whomever, wherever, the masculinity faculty (purisindriya) does not arise, will the joy faculty (somanassindriya) not arise for that one there? For those passing away from the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), for non-males being reborn into the sense sphere, and for those of the form sphere (rūpāvacara): for them there the masculinity faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the joy faculty will not arise for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere, for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā), for formless beings (arūpā), and for those males who, having been reborn with equanimity (upekkhā), will attain final Nibbāna — for these as they pass away: for them there the masculinity faculty does not arise and the joy faculty will not arise. Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the joy faculty will not arise, does the masculinity faculty not arise for that one there? For males in their final existence who are being reborn, and for those males who, having been reborn with equanimity, will attain final Nibbāna — for these as they are being reborn: for them there the joy faculty will not arise, but it is not the case that the masculinity faculty does not arise for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, for those in their final existence in the form sphere, for non-percipient beings, for formless beings, and for those males who, having been reborn with equanimity, will attain final Nibbāna — for these as they pass away: for them there the joy faculty will not arise and the masculinity faculty does not arise.
