[1288] For whomever, wherever, the joy faculty (somanassindriya) has arisen, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one there?
For those endowed with the final mind (pacchimacitta), and those immediately after whose mind (citta) the final mind associated with joy will arise: for them, there, the joy faculty has arisen, but the equanimity faculty will not arise for them there. For the other beings of four-constituent existence (catuvokāra) and five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra): for them, there, the joy faculty has arisen and the equanimity faculty will arise.
Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty will arise, has the joy faculty arisen for that one there?
For beings of the Pure Abodes (suddhāvāsa) when the second mind is occurring: for them, there, the equanimity faculty will arise, but the joy faculty has not arisen for them there. For the other beings of four-constituent existence and five-constituent existence: for them, there, the equanimity faculty will arise and the joy faculty has arisen.
