[1306] "For whomever, wherever, the eye faculty (cakkhundriya) did not arise, will the joy faculty (somanassindriya) not arise for that one there?"
"Yes."
"Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the joy faculty will not arise, did the eye faculty not arise for that one there?"
"For those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the five-constituent existence (pañcavokāra), and for those possessed of eyes who, having been reborn with equanimity, will attain final Nibbāna — for them, there, the joy faculty will not arise, but it is not the case that for them, there, the eye faculty did not arise. For beings of the Pure Abodes (suddhāvāsa), for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), and for formless beings (arūpa) — for them, there, both the joy faculty will not arise and the eye faculty did not arise."
