[1453] One who did not develop the faculty "I shall come to know the unknown" (anaññātaññassāmītindriya) — will he not realize the perfect-knower faculty (aññātāvindriya)?
Two persons did not develop the faculty "I shall come to know the unknown," but it is not the case that they will not realize the perfect-knower faculty. Those ordinary persons (puthujjana) who will not obtain the path (magga) — they did not develop the faculty "I shall come to know the unknown" and will not realize the perfect-knower faculty.
Or rather, one who will not realize the perfect-knower faculty — did he not develop the faculty "I shall come to know the unknown"?
The Arahant (arahā) will not realize the perfect-knower faculty, but it is not the case that he did not develop the faculty "I shall come to know the unknown." Those ordinary persons who will not obtain the path — they will not realize the perfect-knower faculty and did not develop the faculty "I shall come to know the unknown."
