[529] For whomever the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arises, does the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) arise for that one?
For those being reborn with equanimity (upekkhā), dissociated from knowledge (ñāṇa), and, in the course of existence (pavatti), at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) associated with equanimity and dissociated from knowledge — for these the equanimity faculty arises, but the wisdom faculty does not arise for them. For those being reborn with equanimity, associated with knowledge, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with equanimity and associated with knowledge — for these both the equanimity faculty arises and the wisdom faculty arises.
Or rather, for whomever the wisdom faculty arises, does the equanimity faculty arise for that one?
For those associated with knowledge being reborn without equanimity, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with knowledge and dissociated from equanimity — for these the wisdom faculty arises, but the equanimity faculty does not arise for them. For those associated with knowledge being reborn with equanimity, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with knowledge and associated with equanimity — for these both the wisdom faculty arises and the equanimity faculty arises.
