Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 715

[715] For whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) does not arise, does the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) not arise for that one there? For those being reborn without equanimity [but] associated with knowledge (ñāṇa), and, in the course of existence (pavatti), at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) dissociated from equanimity and associated with knowledge — for them, there, the equanimity faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the wisdom faculty does not arise for them there. For all [beings] at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) of mind, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from equanimity and dissociated from knowledge, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasatta) — for them, there, both the equanimity faculty does not arise and the wisdom faculty does not arise. Or else, for whomever, wherever, the wisdom faculty does not arise, does the equanimity faculty not arise for that one there? For those being reborn dissociated from knowledge [but] with equanimity, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from knowledge and associated with equanimity — for them, there, the wisdom faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the equanimity faculty does not arise for them there. For all [beings] at the moment of dissolution of mind, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from knowledge and dissociated from equanimity, and for non-percipient beings — for them, there, both the wisdom faculty does not arise and the equanimity faculty does not arise.
