Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 714

[714] For whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) does not arise, does the faith faculty (saddhindriya) not arise for that one there? For those with roots (sahetuka) who are taking rebirth without equanimity (upekkhā), and, in the course of existence (pavatta), at the moment of arising of a mind (citta) dissociated from equanimity but associated with faith (saddhā) — for them, there, the equanimity faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that for them, there, the faith faculty does not arise. For all beings at the moment of dissolution of the mind, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from equanimity and dissociated from faith, and for non-percipient beings (asaññasattā) — for them, there, the equanimity faculty does not arise and the faith faculty does not arise. Or else, for whomever, wherever, the faith faculty does not arise, does the equanimity faculty not arise for that one there? For those without roots (ahetuka) who are taking rebirth with equanimity, and, in the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from faith but associated with equanimity — for them, there, the faith faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that for them, there, the equanimity faculty does not arise. For all beings at the moment of dissolution of the mind, at the moment of arising of a mind dissociated from faith and dissociated from equanimity, and for non-percipient beings — for them, there, the faith faculty does not arise and the equanimity faculty does not arise.
