[599] For whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arises, does the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) arise for that one there?
For those being reborn with equanimity (upekkhā), dissociated from knowledge (ñāṇa), and, during the course of existence (pavatta), at the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) of a mind (citta) associated with equanimity, dissociated from knowledge — for them, there, the equanimity faculty arises, but the wisdom faculty does not arise for them there. For those being reborn with equanimity, associated with knowledge, and, during the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with equanimity, associated with knowledge — for them, there, both the equanimity faculty arises and the wisdom faculty arises.
Or else, for whomever, wherever, the wisdom faculty arises, does the equanimity faculty arise for that one there?
For those being reborn associated with knowledge, without equanimity, and, during the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with knowledge, dissociated from equanimity — for them, there, the wisdom faculty arises, but the equanimity faculty does not arise for them there. For those being reborn associated with knowledge, with equanimity, and, during the course of existence, at the moment of arising of a mind associated with knowledge, associated with equanimity — for them, there, both the wisdom faculty arises and the equanimity faculty arises.
