Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 571

[571] For whomever, wherever, the nose faculty (ghānindriya) arises, does the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arise for that one there? For those possessed of a nose (saghānaka) who are taking rebirth (upapajjantānaṃ) without joy (somanassa), the nose faculty arises for them there, but the joy faculty does not arise for them there. For those possessed of a nose who are taking rebirth with joy, for them there both the nose faculty arises and the joy faculty arises. Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the joy faculty arises, does the nose faculty arise for that one there? For those without a nose (aghānaka) who are taking rebirth with joy, the joy faculty arises for them there, but the nose faculty does not arise for them there. For those possessed of a nose who are taking rebirth with joy, for them there both the joy faculty arises and the nose faculty arises.
