[687] For whomever, wherever, the nose faculty (ghānindriya) does not arise, does the joy faculty (somanassindriya) not arise for that one there?
For those without nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn with joy, the nose faculty does not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the joy faculty does not arise for them there. For all who are passing away, and for those without nose who are being reborn without joy, the nose faculty does not arise for them there, and the joy faculty does not arise.
Or, for whomever, wherever, the joy faculty does not arise, does the nose faculty not arise for that one there?
For those with nose (saghānaka) who are being reborn without joy, the joy faculty does not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the nose faculty does not arise for them there. For all who are passing away, and for those without nose who are being reborn without joy, the joy faculty does not arise for them there, and the nose faculty does not arise.
