Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1196

[1196] For whomever, wherever, the nose faculty (ghānindriya) does not arise, will the life faculty (jīvitindriya) not arise for that one there? For all those who are passing away, and for those without the nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn, the nose faculty does not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the life faculty will not arise for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna (parinibbāna) in the sense sphere (kāmāvacara), and for those in their final existence (pacchimabhavika) in the form sphere (rūpāvacara) and the formless sphere (arūpāvacara), for them there the nose faculty does not arise and the life faculty will not arise. Or rather, for whomever, wherever, the life faculty will not arise, does the nose faculty not arise for that one there? For those in their final existence who are being reborn into the sense sphere, the life faculty will not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the nose faculty does not arise for them there. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense sphere, and for those in their final existence in the form sphere and the formless sphere, for them there the life faculty will not arise and the nose faculty does not arise.
