[617] For whom the nose faculty (ghānindriya) does not arise, does the joy faculty (somanassindriya) not arise for that one?
For those without a nose who are being reborn with joy, the nose faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the joy faculty does not arise for them. For all who are passing away, and for those without a nose who are being reborn without joy, the nose faculty does not arise and the joy faculty also does not arise.
Or rather, for whom the joy faculty does not arise, does the nose faculty not arise for that one?
For those with a nose who are being reborn without joy, the joy faculty does not arise, but it is not the case that the nose faculty does not arise for them. For all who are passing away, and for those without a nose who are being reborn without joy, the joy faculty does not arise and the nose faculty also does not arise.
