[504] For whomever the nose faculty (ghānindriya) arises, does the wisdom faculty (paññindriya) arise for that one?
For those possessing a nose (saghānaka), dissociated from knowledge (ñāṇavippayutta), who are being reborn (upapajjantānaṃ), the nose faculty arises for them, but the wisdom faculty does not arise for them. For those possessing a nose, associated with knowledge (ñāṇasampayutta), who are being reborn, for them the nose faculty arises and the wisdom faculty arises.
Or rather, for whomever the wisdom faculty arises, does the nose faculty arise for that one?
For those associated with knowledge, without a nose (aghānaka), who are being reborn, the wisdom faculty arises for them, but the nose faculty does not arise for them. For those associated with knowledge, possessing a nose, who are being reborn, for them the wisdom faculty arises and the nose faculty arises.
