[688] For whomever, wherever, the nose faculty (ghānindriya) does not arise, does the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) not arise for that one there?
For those without nose (aghānaka) who are being reborn with equanimity (upekkhā), the nose faculty does not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the equanimity faculty does not arise for them there. For all who are passing away, and for those without nose who are being reborn without equanimity, for them there both the nose faculty does not arise and the equanimity faculty does not arise.
Or rather: for whomever, wherever, the equanimity faculty does not arise, does the nose faculty not arise for that one there?
For those with nose (saghānaka) who are being reborn without equanimity, the equanimity faculty does not arise for them there, but it is not the case that the nose faculty does not arise for them there.
