Nidadesahaṅadhaṁvāra

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 71

[71] Whatever mind (citta), while arising, has passed beyond moment (khaṇa) after moment, being one whose time has passed — is that mind, while ceasing, one that has passed beyond moment after moment, one whose time has passed? The mind at the moment of dissolution (bhaṅgakkhaṇa) has passed beyond the moment of arising (uppādakkhaṇa) but has not passed beyond the moment of dissolution; the past (atīta) mind has passed beyond the moment of arising and has passed beyond the moment of dissolution. Or: whatever mind, while ceasing, has passed beyond moment after moment, being one whose time has passed — is that mind, while arising, one that has passed beyond moment after moment, one whose time has passed? The past mind. Whatever mind has not, while arising, passed beyond moment after moment, not being one whose time has passed — is that mind one that has not, while ceasing, passed beyond moment after moment, not one whose time has passed? The mind at the moment of arising, and the future (anāgata) mind. Or: whatever mind has not, while ceasing, passed beyond moment after moment, not being one whose time has passed — is that mind one that has not, while arising, passed beyond moment after moment, not one whose time has passed? The mind at the moment of dissolution has not passed beyond the moment of dissolution, yet it is not the case that it has not passed beyond the moment of arising; the mind at the moment of arising and the future mind have not passed beyond the moment of dissolution and have not passed beyond the moment of arising.
