[746] Where the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arose, did the joy faculty (somanassindriya) arise there?
Among the non-percipient beings (asaññasatta), the life faculty arose there, but the joy faculty did not arise there. In the four-constituent (catuvokāra) and the five-constituent (pañcavokāra) [planes], both the life faculty arose there and the joy faculty arose there.
Or else, where the joy faculty arose, did the life faculty arise there?
Yes (āmantā).
