[861] For whom the life faculty (jīvitindriya) will arise, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for that one?
Those [beings] in whom the final mind (pacchimacitta) associated with joy (somanassa) will arise in immediate succession to whichever mind (citta): for them the life faculty will arise, but the equanimity faculty will not arise for them. For the others, both the life faculty will arise and the equanimity faculty will arise.
Or, conversely, for whom the equanimity faculty will arise, will the life faculty arise for that one?
