Cakkhundarīya

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Yamaka (2) · Vol. 39 · Section 1104

[1104] For whomever the life faculty (jīvitindriya) arises, will the equanimity faculty (upekkhindriya) arise for him? At the moment of the arising of the final mind (pacchimacitta), and at the moment of the arising of the mind (citta) immediately after which the final mind associated with joy (somanassa) will arise — for these the life faculty arises, but the equanimity faculty will not arise for them. For the others — when being reborn, and in the course of existence (pavatti) at the moment of the arising of mind — for them the life faculty arises and the equanimity faculty will arise. Or, for whomever the equanimity faculty will arise, does the life faculty arise for him? For all — when passing away, and in the course of existence at the moment of the dissolution of mind — for them the equanimity faculty will arise, but the life faculty does not arise. For all — when being reborn, and in the course of existence at the moment of the arising of mind — for them the equanimity faculty will arise and the life faculty arises.
