[1625] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is clung to and subject to clinging (upādinnupādāniya) and a phenomenon that is not clung to but subject to clinging (anupādinnupādāniya) are a condition for a phenomenon that is clung to and subject to clinging by presence condition (atthi-paccaya) — prenascence (purejāta), postnascence (pacchājāta), nutriment (āhāra), faculty (indriya).
Prenascence: the form base (rūpāyatana) that is not clung to but subject to clinging and the eye base (cakkhāyatana) are a condition for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa) by presence condition. … (abridged) The tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) that is not clung to but subject to clinging and the body base (kāyāyatana) are a condition for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa) by presence condition. The form base that is not clung to but subject to clinging and the (heart-)base (vatthu) [are a condition] for the aggregates (khandhā) that are clung to and subject to clinging. … (abridged) The tangible-object base that is not clung to but subject to clinging and the (heart-)base are a condition for the aggregates that are clung to and subject to clinging by presence condition.
Postnascence: the aggregates that are clung to and subject to clinging and edible nutriment (kabaḷiṅkāra āhāra) that is not clung to but subject to clinging are a condition for the body that is clung to and subject to clinging by presence condition. Edible nutriment that is clung to and subject to clinging and that is not clung to but subject to clinging is a condition for the body that is clung to and subject to clinging by presence condition.
Postnascence: the aggregates that are not clung to but subject to clinging and the material life faculty (rūpa-jīvitindriya) are a condition for the kamma-born material phenomena (kaṭattārūpa) by presence condition.
