[553] An indeterminate phenomenon (abyākata dhamma) is a condition for an indeterminate phenomenon by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Object decisive-support: An Arahant (arahā) reviews the fruition (phala), esteeming it; he reviews Nibbāna, esteeming it. Nibbāna is a condition for the fruition by decisive-support condition.
Proximity decisive-support: The preceding resultant-indeterminate (vipākābyākata) and functional-indeterminate (kiriyābyākata) aggregates (khandhā) are, each in succession, a condition for the succeeding resultant-indeterminate and functional-indeterminate aggregates by decisive-support condition. The life-continuum (bhavaṅga) is a condition for adverting (āvajjanā); the functional (kiriya) for emergence (vuṭṭhāna); the Arahant's conformity (anuloma) for fruition attainment (phala-samāpatti); for one emerging from cessation (nirodha), the functional [consciousness of the] sphere of neither-perception-nor-non-perception (nevasaññānāsaññāyatana-kiriya) is a condition for fruition attainment by decisive-support condition.
Natural decisive-support: Bodily pleasure (kāyika sukha) is a condition for bodily pleasure, for bodily pain (kāyika dukkha), and for fruition attainment by decisive-support condition. Bodily pain is a condition for bodily pleasure, for bodily pain, and for fruition attainment by decisive-support condition. Climate (utu) is a condition for bodily pleasure, for bodily pain, and for fruition attainment by decisive-support condition.
