[1012] A phenomenon (dhamma) whose root is to be abandoned by development (bhāvanāya-pahātabbahetuka) and a phenomenon whose root is to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development (nevadassanena-na-bhāvanāya-pahātabbahetuka) are a condition for a phenomenon whose root is to be abandoned by development and for a phenomenon whose root is to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development: a condition by object condition (ārammaṇa-paccaya); a condition by connascence condition (sahajāta-paccaya); a condition by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya).
Here too there are the connascent (sahajāta) and the prenascent (purejāta). Those questions that have not been written down do not, for those counting [them] in the text, accord in the letter; they are not written in the text. The enumerations are evident. If doubt arises, it should be looked at under the presence condition (atthi-paccaya) in the positive method (anuloma).
