Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (2) · Vol. 41 · Section 1601

[1601] A phenomenon (dhamma) with a measureless object (appamāṇārammaṇa) is a condition, by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya), for a phenomenon with a limited object (parittārammaṇa): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya). Natural decisive-support: depending on faith (saddhā) with a measureless object, one gives a gift (dāna), undertakes virtue (sīla), performs the uposatha observance (uposathakamma); one produces jhāna with a limited object; insight (vipassanā) … superknowledge (abhiññā) … one produces an attainment (samāpatti). Depending on virtue with a measureless object … wisdom (paññā), one gives a gift … one produces an attainment. Faith with a measureless object … wisdom is a condition, by decisive-support condition, for faith with a limited object, for wisdom, for bodily pleasure (kāyika sukha), for bodily pain (kāyika dukkha).
