[288] A phenomenon (dhamma) without applied thought and with sustained thought only (avitakka-vicāramatta) and a phenomenon without applied thought and without sustained thought (avitakka-avicāra) are a condition for a phenomenon with applied thought and with sustained thought (savitakka-savicāra) by decisive-support condition (upanissaya-paccaya): object decisive-support (ārammaṇūpanissaya), proximity decisive-support (anantarūpanissaya), natural decisive-support (pakatūpanissaya).
Natural decisive-support: faith (saddhā) that is without applied thought and with sustained thought only … virtue (sīla), learning (suta), generosity (cāga), wisdom (paññā) … and sustained thought (vicāra) are a condition for faith that is with applied thought and with sustained thought … for wisdom, by decisive-support condition.
