[320] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is without thought-conception and without discursive thought (avitakka-avicāra) is a condition, by repetition condition (āsevana-paccaya), both for a phenomenon that is without thought-conception but with only discursive thought (avitakka-vicāramatta) and for a phenomenon that is without thought-conception and without discursive thought. Each preceding discursive thought (vicāra) is a condition, by repetition condition, for each succeeding [group of] aggregates (khandhā) that are without thought-conception but with only discursive thought, and for [their] discursive thought.
