[180] A phenomenon (dhamma) without applied thought and with only sustained thought (avitakka-vicāramatta) is a condition, by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya), for a phenomenon without applied thought and without sustained thought (avitakka-avicāra).
The preceding aggregates (khandhā) without applied thought and with only sustained thought are a condition, by immediacy condition, for each subsequent sustained thought (vicāra).
