[316] A phenomenon (dhamma) without initial application (vitakka) and with only sustained application (vicāra) is a condition, by repetition condition (āsevana-paccaya), for a phenomenon without initial application and with only sustained application and for a phenomenon without initial application and without sustained application (avitakka-avicāra): the preceding aggregates (khandhā) without initial application and with only sustained application are, in each case, a condition, by repetition condition, for the succeeding aggregates without initial application and with only sustained application, and for sustained application.
