Paccanīyapaṭṭhāna

Abhidhammapiṭaka · Paṭṭhāna (2) · Vol. 41 · Section 182

[182] A phenomenon (dhamma) without thought-conception (vitakka), with discursive thought (vicāra) only, is a condition, by immediacy condition (anantara-paccaya), both for a phenomenon with thought-conception and discursive thought and for a phenomenon without thought-conception, with discursive thought only. Each preceding thought-conception is a condition, by immediacy condition, for each succeeding [set of] aggregates (khandhā) with thought-conception and discursive thought and for thought-conception. The death consciousness (cuticitta) without thought-conception, with discursive thought only, is a condition, by immediacy condition, for the rebirth consciousness (upapatticitta) with thought-conception and discursive thought and for thought-conception. The life-continuum (bhavaṅga) without thought-conception, with discursive thought only, is a condition, by immediacy condition, for adverting (āvajjanā) and for thought-conception. Aggregates without thought-conception, with discursive thought only, are a condition, by immediacy condition, for emergence (vuṭṭhāna) with thought-conception and discursive thought and for thought-conception.
