[974] A phenomenon (dhamma) whose roots are to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development (nevadassanena-nabhāvanāya-pahātabbahetuka) [is a condition] for a phenomenon whose roots are to be abandoned by development (bhāvanāya-pahātabbahetuka) … . Prenascence (purejāta): the base (vatthu) [is a condition] for the aggregates (khandhā) whose roots are to be abandoned by development.
