[985] A phenomenon (dhamma) whose root is to be abandoned neither by seeing (dassana) nor by development (bhāvanā) is a condition, by presence condition (atthi-paccaya), for a phenomenon whose root is to be abandoned by seeing and for a phenomenon whose root is to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development — conascent (sahajāta), prenascent (purejāta).
Conascent: delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt (vicikicchā) is a condition, by presence condition, for the associated (sampayuttaka) aggregates (khandha) and for the forms (rūpa) originated by mind (citta-samuṭṭhāna).
Prenascent: taking the eye (cakkhu) as object, the aggregates accompanied by doubt, and delusion, arise; taking the base (vatthu) as object, [they arise]; the base is a condition, by presence condition, for the aggregates accompanied by doubt and for delusion.
