[943] A phenomenon (dhamma) whose roots are to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development is a condition, by way of prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya), for a phenomenon whose roots are to be abandoned by seeing.
Object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta), base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: one relishes and delights in the eye … the base (vatthu); with that as object, lust (rāga) whose roots are to be abandoned by seeing … view (diṭṭhi) … doubt (vicikicchā) … grief (domanassa) whose roots are to be abandoned by seeing arises.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition, by way of prenascence condition, for the aggregates (khandhā) whose roots are to be abandoned by seeing.
