[944] A phenomenon (dhamma) whose roots are to be abandoned neither by seeing nor by development (nevadassanena-nabhāvanāya-pahātabbahetuka) is a condition, by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya), for a phenomenon whose roots are to be abandoned by development (bhāvanāya-pahātabbahetuka).
Object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: one relishes and delights in the eye … the base (vatthu); with that as object, lust (rāga) whose roots are to be abandoned by development arises; restlessness arises; grief whose roots are to be abandoned by development arises.
Base-prenascence: the base is a condition, by prenascence condition, for the aggregates whose roots are to be abandoned by development.
