[719] A phenomenon (dhamma) to be abandoned neither by seeing (dassana) nor by development (bhāvanā) is a condition, by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya), for a phenomenon to be abandoned by development: object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: One relishes and delights in the eye; with that as object, lust (rāga) to be abandoned by development arises, restlessness (uddhacca) arises, grief (domanassa) to be abandoned by development arises. One relishes and delights in the ear … the body, forms … tangible objects … the base (vatthu); with that as object, lust to be abandoned by development arises, restlessness arises, grief to be abandoned by development arises.
Base-prenascence: The base is a condition, by prenascence condition, for the aggregates (khandhā) to be abandoned by development.
