[248] A phenomenon (dhamma) conjoined with and originated by mind (cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhāna) is a condition, by presence condition (atthi-paccaya), for a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind: this is similar to the paṭicca (dependence) section. A phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind is a condition, by presence condition, for a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind (no-cittasaṃsaṭṭhasamuṭṭhāna): conascent (sahajāta), postnascent (pacchājāta). Abbreviated. A phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind is a condition, by presence condition, for a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind and for a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind: similar to the paṭicca section. A phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind is a condition, by presence condition, for a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind: conascent, prenascent (purejāta), postnascent, nutriment (āhāra), faculty (indriya). The prenascent is to be treated in the same way as prenascence (condition). All that is abbreviated should be expanded in full. A phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind is a condition, by presence condition, for a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind: conascent, prenascent. Conascent: mind (citta) is a condition, by presence condition, for the associated aggregates (sampayuttaka-khandhā); at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), mind is a condition, by presence condition, for the associated aggregates; at the moment of rebirth-linking, the base (vatthu) is a condition, by presence condition, for the aggregates conjoined with and originated by mind. Prenascent: similar to prenascence, without any difference. A phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind is a condition, by presence condition, for a phenomenon conjoined with and originated by mind and for a phenomenon not conjoined with and originated by mind: conascent, prenascent. Conascent: mind is a condition, by presence condition, for the associated aggregates and for the forms (rūpa) originated by mind (cittasamuṭṭhāna); at the moment of rebirth-linking, mind is a condition, by presence condition, for the associated aggregates and for the kamma-born forms (kaṭattā-rūpa); at the moment of rebirth-linking, the base is a condition, by presence condition, for mind and for the associated aggregates.
