[299] Dependent on a phenomenon (dhamma) that is not derived (no-upādā), there arises a phenomenon that is not derived, not by object condition (na-ārammaṇa-paccaya):
Dependent on aggregates (khandhā) that are not derived, [there arises] mind-originated matter (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) that is not derived; at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhikkhaṇa), [dependent on] one great element (mahābhūta) … as far as the non-percipient beings (asaññasattā); dependent on two great elements, two great elements [arise].
Dependent on a phenomenon that is not derived, there arises a derived (upādā) phenomenon, not by object condition: dependent on aggregates that are not derived, [there arises] derived mind-originated matter; at the moment of rebirth-linking, dependent on the great elements, [there arise] derived mind-originated matter [and] kamma-born matter (kaṭattārūpa) — derived matter (upādā-rūpa) — as far as the non-percipient beings.
Dependent on a phenomenon that is not derived, there arise phenomena that are derived and phenomena that are not derived, not by object condition: dependent on aggregates that are not derived, [there arise] derived and not-derived mind-originated matter; rebirth-linking. …
