[442] A phenomenon (dhamma) associated with clinging (upādāna-sampayutta) is a condition for a phenomenon associated with clinging by way of root condition (hetu-paccaya): Roots (hetu) associated with clinging are a condition for the associated aggregates (khandhā) by way of root condition. A phenomenon associated with clinging is a condition for a phenomenon dissociated from clinging (upādāna-vippayutta) by way of root condition: Roots associated with clinging are a condition for mind-originated forms (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) by way of root condition; roots accompanied by greed (lobha) dissociated from views (diṭṭhigata-vippayutta) are a condition for the greed dissociated from views and for mind-originated forms by way of root condition. The root should be stated (mūlaṃ kātabbaṃ): Roots associated with clinging are a condition for the associated aggregates and mind-originated forms by way of root condition; roots accompanied by greed dissociated from views are a condition for the associated aggregates, for the greed, and for mind-originated forms by way of root condition. A phenomenon dissociated from clinging is a condition for a phenomenon dissociated from clinging by way of root condition: Roots dissociated from clinging are a condition for the associated aggregates and mind-originated forms by way of root condition; greed dissociated from views is a condition for mind-originated forms by way of root condition. Rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi). The root should be stated: Greed dissociated from views is a condition for the associated aggregates by way of root condition.
