[465] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is both clinging (upādāna) and associated with clinging (upādānasampayutta) is a condition, by root condition (hetu-paccaya), for a phenomenon that is both clinging and associated with clinging: roots (hetū) that are both clinging and associated with clinging are a condition, by root condition, for the associated clingings.
