[571] A phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a knot (gantha) and associated with knots is a condition for a phenomenon that is both a knot and associated with knots by root condition (hetu-paccaya): roots (hetū) that are both knots and associated with knots are a condition for the associated knots by root condition.
A phenomenon that is both a knot and associated with knots is a condition for a phenomenon that is associated with knots but not a knot by root condition: roots that are both knots and associated with knots are a condition for the associated aggregates (khandhā) by root condition.
A phenomenon that is both a knot and associated with knots is a condition for a phenomenon that is both a knot and associated with knots and for a phenomenon that is associated with knots but not a knot by root condition: roots that are both knots and associated with knots are a condition for the associated aggregates and the knots by root condition.
