[548] Dependent on (paṭicca) a phenomenon (dhamma) that is both a defilement (kilesa) and defiled (saṅkiliṭṭha), a phenomenon that is both a defilement and defiled arises, not by root condition (na-hetupaccayā): dependent on doubt (vicikicchā), there arises delusion (moha) accompanied by doubt (vicikicchāsahagata); dependent on restlessness (uddhacca), there arises delusion accompanied by restlessness.
Dependent on a phenomenon that is defiled but not a defilement, a phenomenon that is both a defilement and defiled arises, not by root condition: dependent on the aggregates (khandhā) accompanied by doubt, accompanied by restlessness, there arises delusion accompanied by doubt, accompanied by restlessness.
