[700] A phenomenon (dhamma) not accompanied by pleasure (na-sukhasahagata) is a condition, by prenascence condition (purejāta-paccaya), for a phenomenon not accompanied by pleasure — object-prenascence (ārammaṇa-purejāta) and base-prenascence (vatthu-purejāta).
Object-prenascence: With a mind (citta) not accompanied by pleasure [one] contemplates with insight the eye … the base as impermanent …; [one] relishes it and delights in it; with that as object, lust (rāga) not accompanied by pleasure … grief arises. With the divine eye (dibbacakkhu) [one sees] a form … the tangible-object base (phoṭṭhabbāyatana) [is a condition] for body-consciousness (kāyaviññāṇa).
Base-prenascence: The eye base (cakkhāyatana) [is a condition] for eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa); the body base (kāyāyatana) … The base is a condition, by prenascence condition, for the aggregates (khandhā) not accompanied by pleasure and for pleasure (sukha).
A phenomenon not accompanied by pleasure is a condition, by prenascence condition, for a phenomenon accompanied by pleasure (sukhasahagata) — object-prenascence and base-prenascence.
Object-prenascence: With a mind accompanied by pleasure [one] contemplates with insight the eye … the base as impermanent …; [one] relishes it and delights in it; with that as object, lust accompanied by pleasure arises, view (diṭṭhi) arises.
