[9] Conditioned by a phenomenon with an object (sārammaṇa dhamma), a phenomenon with an object arises by root condition (hetu-paccaya): three (cases), similar to the dependent chapter (paṭicca-vāra).
Conditioned by a phenomenon without an object (anārammaṇa dhamma), a phenomenon without an object arises by root condition: (conditioned by) one primary element (mahābhūta) … conditioned by the primary elements, mind-originated form (cittasamuṭṭhāna-rūpa) and kamma-born form (kaṭattā-rūpa) that is derived form (upādā-rūpa) [arise].
Conditioned by a phenomenon without an object, a phenomenon with an object arises by root condition: conditioned by the base (vatthu), aggregates with an object (sārammaṇā khandhā) [arise]; at the moment of rebirth-linking (paṭisandhi), conditioned by the base, aggregates with an object [arise].
