[856] Dependent on a wholesome (kusala) phenomenon (dhamma) that is with applied thought and sustained thought (savitakkasavicāra), a not-wholesome (na-kusala) phenomenon that is not with applied thought and sustained thought (na-savitakkasavicāra) arises by root condition (hetupaccayā). Three. Dependent on a wholesome phenomenon that is without applied thought and with sustained thought only (avitakkavicāramatta), a not-wholesome phenomenon that is not without applied thought and with sustained thought only (na-avitakkavicāramatta) arises by root condition.
