[207] Bhikkhus, here again, a bhikkhu is a maker of strife, a maker of quarrels, a maker of disputes, a maker of contentious talk, a creator of legal issues (adhikaraṇa) in the Saṅgha. In that case, if it occurs to the bhikkhus: "Friends, this bhikkhu is a maker of strife, a maker of quarrels, a maker of disputes, a maker of contentious talk, a creator of legal issues in the Saṅgha. Come, let us carry out an act of censure (tajjanīya-kamma) against him," and they carry out the act of censure against him — as a faction, with a semblance of Dhamma — then that bhikkhu goes from that monastery to another monastery. There too it occurs to the bhikkhus: "Friends, this bhikkhu has had an act of censure carried out against him by the Saṅgha, by a faction, with a semblance of Dhamma. Come, let us carry out an act of censure against him," and they carry out the act of censure against him — united, with a semblance of Dhamma. He goes from that monastery to another monastery. There too it occurs to the bhikkhus: "Friends, this bhikkhu has had an act of censure carried out against him by the Saṅgha, united, with a semblance of Dhamma. Come, let us carry out an act of censure against him," and they carry out the act of censure against him — as a faction, not in accordance with Dhamma. He goes from that monastery to another monastery. There too it occurs to the bhikkhus: "Friends, this bhikkhu has had an act of censure carried out against him by the Saṅgha, by a faction, not in accordance with Dhamma. Come, let us carry out an act of censure against him," and they carry out the act of censure against him — united, not in accordance with Dhamma. He goes from that monastery to another monastery. There too it occurs to the bhikkhus: "Friends, this bhikkhu has had an act of censure carried out against him by the Saṅgha, united, not in accordance with Dhamma. Come, let us carry out an act of censure against him," and they carry out the act of censure against him — as a faction, in accordance with Dhamma.
