[225] Bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu abuses and reviles householders. Concerning that, if the bhikkhus think thus: "Friends, this bhikkhu abuses and reviles householders; come, let us carry out an act of reconciliation (paṭisāraṇīyakamma) against him," and they carry out the act of reconciliation against him — as an incomplete assembly, contrary to the Dhamma … as a complete assembly, contrary to the Dhamma; as an incomplete assembly, in accordance with the Dhamma; as an incomplete assembly, by a semblance of the Dhamma; as a complete assembly, by a semblance of the Dhamma — then the Saṅgha present there disputes: "It is an act by an incomplete assembly, contrary to the Dhamma; an act by a complete assembly, contrary to the Dhamma; an act by an incomplete assembly, in accordance with the Dhamma; an act by an incomplete assembly, by a semblance of the Dhamma; an act by a complete assembly, by a semblance of the Dhamma; the act is not done, the act is badly done, the act must be done again."
Bhikkhus, those bhikkhus there who say, "It is an act by a complete assembly, by a semblance of the Dhamma," and those bhikkhus who say, "The act is not done, the act is badly done, the act must be done again" — these bhikkhus there are speakers of the Dhamma (dhammavādino). These five sections are given in brief.
