[452] Bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu commits two saṅghādisesa offences (saṅghādisesa āpatti), concealed for two months: regarding one offence he is free from doubt, regarding one offence he is in doubt. He requests from the Saṅgha a two-month probation (parivāsa) for that offence, concealed for two months, regarding which he is free from doubt. The Saṅgha grants him a two-month probation for that offence, concealed for two months. While he is undergoing probation, he becomes free from doubt regarding the other offence as well. He thinks thus: "I committed two saṅghādisesa offences, concealed for two months: regarding one offence I was free from doubt, regarding one offence I was in doubt. I requested from the Saṅgha a two-month probation for that offence, concealed for two months, regarding which I was free from doubt. The Saṅgha granted me a two-month probation for that offence, concealed for two months. While undergoing probation, I am free from doubt regarding the other offence as well. Suppose I were to request from the Saṅgha a two-month probation for the other offence as well, concealed for two months." He requests from the Saṅgha a two-month probation for the other offence as well, concealed for two months. The Saṅgha grants him a two-month probation for the other offence as well, concealed for two months. Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu should observe probation for two months reckoning from that point (tadupādāya).
