[462] Bhikkhus, here again a bhikkhu commits two saṅghādisesa offences (āpatti) concealed for two months — for one month he is free from doubt (nibbematika), for one month he is in doubt (vematika). He requests from the Saṅgha probation (parivāsa), for the two offences concealed for two months, for that month regarding which he is free from doubt. The Saṅgha grants him probation, for the two offences concealed for two months, for that month regarding which he is free from doubt. While he is observing probation, he becomes free from doubt regarding the other month as well. He thinks thus: "I committed two saṅghādisesa offences concealed for two months — for one month I was free from doubt, for one month I was in doubt. I requested from the Saṅgha probation, for the two offences concealed for two months, for that month regarding which I was free from doubt. The Saṅgha granted me probation, for the two offences concealed for two months, for that month regarding which I was free from doubt. While observing probation, I have become free from doubt regarding the other month as well. Suppose I were to request from the Saṅgha probation also for the other month, for the two offences concealed for two months." He requests from the Saṅgha probation also for the other month, for the two offences concealed for two months. The Saṅgha grants him probation also for the other month, for the two offences concealed for two months. Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu should observe probation for two months, reckoning from the former month.
