[461] Bhikkhus, here a bhikkhu commits two offences (āpatti) entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa), concealed for two months; one month he remembers, one month he does not remember. He requests from the Saṅgha probation (parivāsa) for the month he remembers, for the two offences concealed for two months. The Saṅgha grants him probation for the month he remembers, for the two offences concealed for two months. While observing probation, he remembers the other month also. He thinks thus: 'I committed two saṅghādisesa offences, concealed for two months; one month I remembered, one month I did not remember. I requested from the Saṅgha probation for the month I remembered, for the two offences concealed for two months; the Saṅgha granted me probation for the month I remembered, for the two offences concealed for two months. While observing probation, I remember the other month also. What if I were to request from the Saṅgha probation for the other month also, for the two offences concealed for two months?' He requests from the Saṅgha probation for the other month also, for the two offences concealed for two months. The Saṅgha grants him probation for the other month also, for the two offences concealed for two months. Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu should observe probation for two months, reckoning from the former [month].
