[448] The Saṅgha should be informed by a competent, capable bhikkhu:
"Venerable sirs, let the Saṅgha listen to me. This bhikkhu named so-and-so committed two saṅghādisesa offenses (āpatti), concealed for two months. It occurred to him: 'I have committed two saṅghādisesa offenses, concealed for two months. What if I were to request from the Saṅgha a probation (parivāsa) of two months for one offense concealed for two months?' He requested from the Saṅgha a probation of two months for the one offense concealed for two months. The Saṅgha granted him a probation of two months for the one offense concealed for two months. While he was undergoing probation, a sense of moral shame (lajjidhamma) came over him: 'I have committed two saṅghādisesa offenses, concealed for two months. It occurred to me: "I have committed two saṅghādisesa offenses, concealed for two months. What if I were to request from the Saṅgha a probation of two months for one offense concealed for two months?" So I requested from the Saṅgha a probation of two months for the one offense concealed for two months. The Saṅgha granted me a probation of two months for the one offense concealed for two months. While I was undergoing probation, a sense of moral shame came over me. What if I were to request from the Saṅgha a probation of two months for the other offense also, concealed for two months?' He requests from the Saṅgha a probation of two months for the other offense also, concealed for two months. If it is the right time for the Saṅgha, let the Saṅgha grant to the bhikkhu named so-and-so a probation of two months for the other offense also, concealed for two months. This is the motion (ñatti).

Whichever venerable one approves of the granting to the bhikkhu named so-and-so of a probation of two months for the other offense also, concealed for two months, let him remain silent; whoever does not approve, let him speak.
"For a second time I speak on this matter … For a third time I speak on this matter …
"A probation of two months for the other offense also, concealed for two months, has been granted by the Saṅgha to the bhikkhu named so-and-so. It is approved by the Saṅgha; therefore it is silent. Thus do I hold it."
Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu should undergo probation for two months, reckoning from that point.
