[46] Bhikkhus, when an act of demotion (niyassakamma) possesses three further factors, it is an act not in accordance with the Dhamma, an act not in accordance with the Vinaya, and one badly settled: it is done for no offense (anāpatti); it is done for an offense not conducive to confession (adesanāgāminī āpatti); it is done for an offense already confessed. Bhikkhus, when an act of demotion possesses these three factors, it is an act not in accordance with the Dhamma, an act not in accordance with the Vinaya, and one badly settled.
