[50] Bhikkhus, when possessed of three further factors, an act of demotion (niyassakamma) is an act not in accordance with the Dhamma, an act not in accordance with the Vinaya, and one badly settled: it is done without the acknowledgment [of the accused] (appaṭiññāya); it is done not in accordance with the Dhamma; it is done by an incomplete assembly (vaggena).
Bhikkhus, when possessed of these three factors, an act of demotion is an act not in accordance with the Dhamma, an act not in accordance with the Vinaya, and one badly settled.
