[66] Bhikkhus, an act of demotion (niyassakamma) possessed of three further factors is an act in accordance with the Dhamma (dhammakamma), an act in accordance with the Discipline (vinayakamma), and one that is well settled: it is done after [the bhikkhu] has been charged; it is done in accordance with the Dhamma; it is done by a united [Saṅgha]. Bhikkhus, an act of demotion possessed of these three factors is an act in accordance with the Dhamma, an act in accordance with the Discipline, and well settled.
